Between hayrides, pumpkin picking, and corn mazes, you and your family have plenty of ways to stay busy during the Halloween season. As you begin to decorate your home with spooky decorations it is important to make sure you follow the following safety tips to prevent fires.
SLIPS & TRIPS
Identify and control potential trip hazards around your property, especially those that are difficult to see after dark. For example; extension cords, plant pots, water hoses, etc.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
- Don’t overload plug sockets or extension cables with decorations.
- Don’t leave decorations on for too long to avoid overheating.
- Always read the manufacturers instructions and guidance.
FIRE SAFETY
- Avoid any kind of open flames and consider using battery-operated candles of LED lighting as a safe alternative.
- Always check the manufacturer’s guidance to help avoid damage to your home and guests. Keep flammable decorations and costumes away from ignition sources.
